Another reference out of left field... this one is an Australian poet with the real name Veronica Lake.
Veronica Lake, with a tenure in teaching her commitment extends beyond the classroom through her role as the editor of annual student poetry journal "Primo Lux,". This publication gathers the unique voices and narratives of high school students from across the state, celebrating their creativity and the rich tapestry of stories they tell.
In recognition of her profound dedication to the dissemination and celebration of language, Lake was honoured with a Churchill Fellowship in 2010. This prestigious award acknowledged her exploration of Shakespeare’s enduring impact and the innovative methods of teaching his works to new audiences.
The fellowship enabled her to engage with some of the world’s most esteemed theatrical organizations and educational institutions, including the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Globe Theatre Company, and Winchester College, among others in the UK, Ireland, Canada, and the USA. Through these collaborations, Lake not only deepened her own appreciation and understanding of Shakespeare but also enhanced her ability to illuminate the bard’s relevance for today’s learners.
Her journey reflects a deep-seated belief in the power of words and her unwavering dedication to fostering literary and educational excellence.
