The Blue Dahlia is one of Veronica Lake’s most celebrated movies and was the inspiration behind the band Blue Dahlia. Estival is their latest release; comprising 4 songs this EP charts the progress of the band to date and gives good reflection on the direction they are taking with the music.
Their first album was self titled and audio clips of both their releases can be downloaded from their rather nicely designed web site at: www.blue-dahlia.com. I rather liked the logo too with the stylized but irregular, blue tingled flower.
Hailing from Kalamazoo (Michigan) the music has an acoustic guitar feel and the jazz trumpet sound reminds me of Miranda Sex Garden albums, I’m sure there is a better comparison. They have a bluesy guitar sound and a laid back style.
