Veronica Lake’s Dress from Saigon

This is pretty fantastic and unique.

The blog Collecting Classic Hollywood is a fun exploration of of one persons hobby "dedicated to collecting and preserving vintage movie worn costumes and fashion from the Golden Age of Hollywood".

I greatly encourage classic movie fans to spend time checking out these fantastic outfits from yesteryear that are lovingly preserved and displayed with neat background articles and context for each item.

The article itself goes..

"Designed by Edith Head, who ran the Paramount wardrobe department for decades, the costume is a cream silk crepe tunic with a brown paisley design, with side slits and raised buttons down one side, and matching cream silk wide leg pants.

Both pieces have Paramount labels with "Lake" written on each, as well as Paramount Ladies Wardrobe stamps."

There’s also the tale of how the outfit passed through the hands of Debbie Reynolds before he came by the items in a Christies auction and managed to reunite the matching pants that had become separated in error.. helping preserve a small piece of Hollywood that might otherwise have been lost.
