The National Film Theatre in London put on a season of Veronica Lake’s Noir films and Marcus was kind enough to send me some pictures of the brochures and tickets from all the shows he attended. Here’s what he had to say:
"I have only ever seen her movies on my own, at home on TV, but tonight was really nice having other people laugh at things I hadn’t noticed at home. Also a few people clapped at the end, naturally I joined in and almost brought a tear to my eye. It was just fab sharing my interest with other people for once (though they undoubtedly came to see Ladd / Bendix) and not our Mousey..."
"Wow Mousey on the big screen, the detail so much clearer, her voice comes over so lush and that Neptune club scene with the fishing rod... Wow ! I’m just a normal guy who fancies her like mad and, well would love to look like her but I think I’d look like a monster in a bang !"
"Just returned from seeing the glass key, that gal, what a dream to look at... Almost a full house which was due to the full page review in The Evening Standard (see attachment) and half of us clapped at the curtain - Fab."
