I actually named my own car Veronica in tribute to Ms Lake. My first MX5 was a MK-I British racing green Monza edition named Betty after the great Betty Page.
Here’s Veronica during a trip around the castles of North Wales a few years after I first got her. Driving the with top down in summer is just the best and turns any trip into something more.
After 6 long years Veronica was retired from active service and we have parted ways.
Named after "Jennifer the Witch" from Veronica Lake’s 1942 movie I Married a Witch she is a 2021 Mk-4 MX-5 RF SKYACTIV-G Sport Convertible with an electric hardtop.
The new hardtops keep the rear window up making the cabin quieter but with less all round vision. I test drove her once and knew she was right for me.
