The Hosta ’Veronica Lake’ (F. Riehl 93) is a kind of plant of which this particular hybrid is name Veronica Lake.
As cultivators develop new strains of plant they have the privilege of naming it. Whether the Hosta (Veronica Lake) is named from the star I’m not sure yet but it would be quite a coincidence if it wasn’t. What ever it shares her name and it therefore worthy of mention.

Hosta ’Veronica Lake’ is a cultivar of Hosta, a genus of plants commonly known as hostas or plantain lilies. Hostas are popular in shaded or semi-shaded garden areas for their lush foliage and ability to thrive in lower light conditions. They are perennial plants, meaning they return year after year, and are particularly noted for their attractive leaves that come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. Hostas also produce flowers on stalks that rise above the foliage, usually in shades of lavender or white, depending on the variety.
The ’Veronica Lake’ cultivar is appreciated for its unique and attractive features:
Care for Hosta ’Veronica Lake’, as with most hostas, includes planting in well-drained soil with some moisture retention, in shaded to partially shaded areas. They can tolerate some morning sun but should be protected from the hot afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch. Regular watering, especially in dryer periods, and a layer of mulch to help retain soil moisture and reduce weed competition, will contribute to the plant’s health and growth.
Hosta ’Veronica Lake’ is valued for its ornamental leaves and overall aesthetic appeal, making it a favored choice among gardeners looking to add texture and color to shaded garden spots.
