There was a short 15 minute show presented on channel 4 in the UK featuring Veronica Lake. The premise of the show was to recreate the looks of classic movie stars in both make-up and hair styling. Veronica Lake would seem to be an ideal subject.
As well as the make over; fans recall the impact and life of Veronica. I was asked to appear on the show but was unable to make the trip to Manchester for filming, which was a shame.
So what was the show like? Well it was kinda weird and a bit cheaply made but it was all made up for by the comments and remembrances of real Veronica Lake fans who appeared. They compressed much of her career into the highlights and most of the recollections were accurate to what I know of them and made for an interesting if short show.
Liz Collinge attempted to re-create her famous hair style and in the absence of a model with "natural eye falling over hair" she used curlers and tongs to force the style which she pointed out would drop out from the weight of the hair itself. Andrew’s makeover and observation on the style of make-up in the 30s - 40s were interesting a accurate.
At the end of the show they paraded the model in typical stark black and white clothing and set with some mist effects and all-in-all made a good job of it.
