You will probably notice lots of references to Connie Keane throughout this site. The reason ...Veronica Lake was the stage name of Constance Frances Marie Ockelman (certainly not a movie starlet name) or simply Constance Keane as she took her step fathers surname of Keane as she preferred it.
She was given the moniker Veronica Lake by Paramount Producer Arthur Hornblow, Jr.
In her later years, post regular movie making, Connie was her preferred name and apparently reference to "Lake" did irritate her somewhat. This was at least partly due to the way she was raised and dropped by the studios, a fate many have suffered, and was never really given the credit for which she was certainly due.
With this in mind.. wherever I make reference to her in the movies I tend to call her Lake.. and when talking over her personal life and times outside the studio I try to respectfully call her Connie.
