Upon saving a young mother from committing suicide a teacher gets lumbered with her child when she runs out on him.Pre-fame Veronica Lake is just one of a gaggle of background schoolgirls who gets to chant and shriek along with the rest. It is noticeable that she appears in frame a few times during crowd scenes and she was one of 4 girls selected for publicity shots for the movie. You wonder if the hair was already getting her noticed.
The movie itself is typically light fair and likeable enough and perfect Saturday afternoon TV level material.
A charming slight comedy and Lake gets some speaking lines as well as group chatter as a background character.
I hadn't held much hope after the previous 3 early Lake movies I'd just watched but this one had a very solid plot, charming scenes and a superb turn by Eddie Cantor as a mild mannered everyman whose big heart gets him into minor scrapes.
Very enjoyable and kind-hearted comedy.
