I recently saw this movie for the first time, and I must admit that I was reluctant to slip the tape into the VCR and press play. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the experience was going to be rough but not as bad as I thought. Depending on how you approach viewing this film you will either dislike it very much, or you will feel that it wasn't so great but could have been much worse. I can't imagine that Veronica Lake took this role very seriously.

The plot is a complete farce and the performances by almost every actor are just atrocious. Another aspect of the film that can be hard to deal with is the poor production. When you are you used to the glamorous Hollywood productions of the 1940's that Lake starred in this can be a difficult experience to deal with.

The voices sound almost dubbed in at times and maybe they were, but I'm not sure. There are a few pleasant moments, however, when the Veronica we know from her glory days shines through. In a few scenes her distinctive facial expressions from the past appear like an old friend, and even her familiar peek-a-boo bang look is still there somewhat. Overall, I was glad that I saw this film if only for the fact that I was happy to see that Veronica was still was enchanting in her final years.
